Tangent and Godfrey Pontoon Boats, a subsidiary of Polaris, have teamed up to create a stylish and innovative design for the next generation Sanpan series. This latest iteration is already winning awards, including Boating Magazine’s 2025 Pontoon of the year.
In an increasingly crowded and competitive market, the goal was clear: performance, innovation and quality would be needed in equal measure to make the Godfrey Sanpan series stand out.

Tangent and Godfrey began this project with a rigorous sketch blitz, exploring dozens of potential themes that carried the Sanpan’s visual language into the future. After down-selecting, Tangent and Godfrey developed three potential themes that each embodied a key characteristic of the Sanpan line: Innovative Performance, Contemporary Luxury, and Elevated Heritage.
Further exploration and refinement led our respective teams to the design that, after several rounds, was the clear winner to be developed in 3D.

Part of pushing the envelope means that every detail needs to be thoroughly considered and refined. The Sanpan’s exterior makes use of several industry leading features including a custom automotive style front dock light assembly with visually distinctive LED signature lights, 3D front branding, acrylic pass-throughs, and backlit side branding and accents.
Core to the Sanpan identity is a sense of luxury and refinement. Brushed metal accents and an all-fiberglass exterior shell provide an automotive level fit and finish to the Sanpan’s exterior styling.
Tangent worked closely with team at Godfrey to take the selected 2D theme into 3D with Autodesk Alias, a class A surfacing software that sets the industry standard. Each exterior part was carefully modeled from concept data all the way to tool ready parts via close collaboration with Godfrey and their chosen suppliers.
The Godfrey Sanpan is on sale now through Godfrey’s affiliated dealers.
